The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has withdrawn the No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for pace bowlers Mustafizur Rahman and Nahid Rana, ruling them out of the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11.
Mustafizur, who represents the Lahore Qalandars, and Nahid Rana, a key pacer for Peshawar Zalmi, were scheduled to rejoin their respective franchises after international duty. However, the BCB officially announced on Thursday that they will not be returning to Pakistan for the tournament’s conclusion.
Reasons for the Withdrawal
The decision impacts the two bowlers for different reasons:
- Mustafizur Rahman (Injury Management): The BCB cited medical grounds for withdrawing Mustafizur’s NOC. The left-arm pacer missed the first two ODIs against New Zealand due to a knee injury sustained during a warm-up. Although he made a stellar return by taking a five-wicket haul in the series decider in Chattogram, the board has decided he needs an immediate scan and rehabilitation.
- Nahid Rana (Workload Management): The BCB stated that Nahid Rana will not be released to allow him adequate time to prepare for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan in May. The right-arm quick has been rested as part of a workload management strategy.
Impact on PSL Franchises
The absence of both players is a significant setback for their respective franchises in the playoff race.
- Lahore Qalandars: Mustafizur had taken 6 wickets in 5 matches for the defending champions. His death-bowling expertise will be difficult to replace.
- Peshawar Zalmi: Nahid Rana was impressive in his debut PSL season, claiming 7 wickets in 4 matches at an economy rate of just 5.42.

Sri Lanka Tour Confusion
The development comes amid confusion regarding Mustafizur’s availability. He had a two-phase NOC: one until April 12 and another from April 24 to May 3. There were initial concerns he might be required for a Sri Lanka tour, but the BCB ultimately prioritized his injury recovery and rehabilitation.
Official Statement: “The Bangladesh Cricket Board wishes to inform that… the board has withdrawn the No Objection Certificate previously issued to Mustafizur. He will therefore not be available to participate in the remainder of PSL 2026.”
