Web Desk — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif surprised the nation by saying that the upcoming general elections would be held on the bases of the new digital census. However, he ruled out the possibility of delay in the polls.
The Prime Minister said in an interview that there has a census and the polls should be held on its bases. The premier said he would soon summon a meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) to discuss the matter.
Shehbaz Sharif once again made it clear that his government’s tenure would be completed on August 12 but his government will go before completing its stipulated time.
Who will be the caretaker PM?
PM Shehbaz said that he would sit with Opposition Leader Raja Riaz to finalize the name of the caretaker prime minister after his consultations with the government allies and Nawaz Sharif.
Sharif hoped that the opposition leader would agree on a name for a caretaker prime minister.
‘Petrol prices out of my control’
Commenting on the hike in petrol prices, the Prime Minister said that it is based on the crude oil prices in the international market.
