US President Donald Trump has once again issued a stark warning to Iran, stating that Tehran could face “extremely painful consequences” if it fails to reach an agreement over its nuclear program.

Speaking to the media, Trump emphasized the urgency of striking a deal. “It is necessary to reach an agreement with Iran. Otherwise, the situation could become very bad. If no deal is made, the circumstances for Iran will be very serious and very painful,” he said.

The American president, however, expressed cautious optimism, adding that he hopes a conclusion can be reached with Iran within the next month.

Iran Responds: Missile Program Not for Sale

On the other side of the standoff, Ali Shamkhani, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, delivered a firm rebuttal. Shamkhani made it clear that Iran would consider even “limited action” as an act of war.

He categorically stated that Tehran will not entertain any discussion regarding its missile program. “National dignity and defense are not for sale,” Shamkhani asserted.

Turkey’s Warning

Adding to the diplomatic complexity, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has previously cautioned that if negotiations extend to Iran’s missile program, the outcome will be nothing short of war.

Ongoing Tensions

Tensions between the United States and Iran over the nuclear issue remain high. In recent days, diplomatic contacts between relevant parties have reportedly intensified, though no concrete breakthrough has been announced.

The competing statements underscore the fragile state of diplomacy as Washington and Tehran remain entrenched in their respective positions.
