Web Desk — VJ Mathira took serious exception to veteran actor Faisal Qureshi’s comments about the difficulties of working with married women.
In a recent interview, Faisal said he preferred to work with younger, unmarried women. Mathira, while deeming the statement problematic, said why a woman’s ability of “Multi-tasking” wasn’t appreciated. Mathira said her career was made to suffer after marriage due to the preconceived notion that women with domestic responsibilities can not excel in professional life.
Mathira shares her story on Instagram that “one should appreciate a woman doing multitasking. Why is it [that] a woman’s career goes down the drain if they [get married] and have kids?”
“It is quite sad to hear a statement like this.”
Faisal in his interview said when were doing Baba Jani with Swera Nadeem, she would have her children on video on set all the time. She’d be taking care of her kids and doing scenes at the same time.
Citing the example of actor Iqra Aziz, Faisal added, “This is an issue with female actors, they work fine until they are married. Look at Iqra [Aziz], you notice how she’s taken on less work since she had a baby.”
