Ramiz Raja made inappropriate comments: Kamran Akmal

Kamran Akmal takes exception to Ramiz Raja statement

Web Desk — Kamran Akmal, the former Peshawar Zalmi batsman, has criticized PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja’s recent comments concerning the change of categories of certain players.

In protest over being demoted to Diamond from Gold and finally, to Silver, Akmal announced he was withdrawing from PSL 7.

In a media interaction, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board responded to Akmal’s decision, saying the PCB has to consider “who will serve Pakistan cricket in the future.”

I think we have to see which players will hold our future, and who will be able to play regularly and have a future [as cricketers in the years to come]. This will usher in a new era for cricket,” he said.

According to Raja, the PCB had introduced the categories to ensure the future of Pakistan cricket was protected. Pakistan cricket’s “budding superstars” deserve more opportunities than those who are “excluded from the circuit”, according to him.

The franchise picked me because I have always performed well; I don’t do an ‘in out’ like others, with all the runs I’ve scored in the league, money isn’t an issue, but I deserve better than being selected in such a low category,” Akmal said.
