What the Letter Says

The former captains expressed concern over the manner in which Imran Khan was taken to the hospital, stating that it did not comply with the judicial orders.

They called for:

  • Immediate transfer to a hospital as per court directives
  • Formation of a medical board to examine him
  • Inclusion of his personal physicians in the medical board
  • Inclusion of his sister, Dr. Uzma Khan, in the medical board, as ordered by the Supreme Court

“We once again appeal to the government to ensure that Imran Khan receives proper medical treatment in accordance with the Supreme Court’s orders,” the letter stated.

Background

This is the second letter written by the group of former captains to the Prime Minister on this issue. Earlier in August, they had written an open letter expressing concern over the health of the 73-year-old former cricketer-turned-politician.

Imran Khan was transferred to PIMS Hospital on August 20 for a medical examination, but the government cited security concerns as the reason for not taking him to Shifa International Hospital, which the Supreme Court had designated.
