Web Desk — England beat Pakistan in the Multan Test to win the three-match series after a wait of over two decades. After this defeat Pakistan is out of the ICC World Test Championship 2022-23 race.
While chasing 355 runs, the home side fell short of 26 runs. The visting side now takes an unassailable 2-0 lead in the historic test series.
Having lost the Test series against England, Pakistan loses three home Tests in a row for the first time since 1959.
Mark Wood sent four Pakistan batters to pavilion to pave the way for England’s historic win in Multan test and take a decisive 2-0 lead in the series.
On the 4th day of the 2nd test, Pakistan were dismissed for 328 about 50 minutes after lunch while chasing a challenging 355-run target.
Wood was the man who turned the match in England’s favour by taking wickets of Mohammad Nawaz (45) and Saud Shakeel (94).
Anderson and Robinson took two wickets each.
The Multan test win gives England their eighth victory in the nine Tests since Brendon McCullum took over as head coach and Ben Stokes as captain in May this year.
The 3rd and the last test match will be played in Karachi from Dec 17.
