Punjab Directs COVID-19 Testing Once Again

Web Desk – The Punjab government has directed hospitals and clinics to step up COVID-19 testing following an increase in Corona’s new variant cases worldwide.

The Punjab Health Department has written a letter to all the concerned departments and officials regarding a surge in COVID-19 cases once again in different parts of the world.

The letter further stated that COVID-19 testing was the only method available for determining the severity of the illness and halting its mass spread. All relevant authorities were asked to follow the directives in letter and spirit.

According to a report, for 28 days, from November 20, 2023, to December 17, 2023, there was a 52% increase in COVID-19 cases worldwide compared to the same period last year, with over 850,000 additional cases.

The World Health Organization (WHO) released a fresh COVID-19 epidemiological report on the global and regional situation on December 24. The WHO report has data on hospitalizations, ICU admissions, and updates on variations of interest and variants under surveillance.
