Web Desk — The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) will open passport counters at its offices in 30 tehsils across the country in the near future.

According to the notification, the “passport counter” facility will be provided in those tehsils or sub-tehsils only where there is no passport office.

These passport counters will be set up in different areas including 12 small cities in the Lahore region, 2 small cities in the Karachi region, 6 small cities in Multan, 2 in Sargodha, 4 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 2 in Islamabad.

According to Director General (DG) Passport Yawar Hussain one-window passport counters at Nadra will be run by the Passport and Immigration Department.

Informing about the fee-related details, the DG said that “Nadra will charge Rs1,000 per passport in addition to government fees.” He refuted the veracity of news about all Nadra offices issuing passports from June 10.

In November last year, an online passport-fee app called the “Passport Fee Asaan” was launched to enable millions of citizens to pay their fees without having to stand in bank queues.
