The United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have officially announced their recognition of Palestine as a state, citing Israel’s failure to meet conditions including a ceasefire.
According to a Reuters report, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated on X that Britain has recognized Palestine as a state, “reviving hope for peace for both Palestinians and Israelis.”
Canada and Australia also recognized Palestine, and more countries are expected to follow suit during the ongoing United Nations General Assembly session in New York.
The report noted that the move by Canada, the UK, and other European nations is likely to anger Israel and its key ally, the United States.
