Web Desk: Former US President Donald Trump is set to visit Saudi Arabia in mid-May on his first international trip since beginning his second term, according to Axios, citing two US officials and a source familiar with his travel plans.
Saudi Arabia’s Growing Role in US Foreign Policy
Saudi Arabia has been playing an increasingly significant role in US diplomatic efforts. The country has hosted talks between the US, Russia, and Ukraine, as Trump pushes for a ceasefire in the ongoing war. Additionally, the White House has identified Saudi Arabia as a potential participant in the Abraham Accords, a series of agreements promoting peace in the Middle East.
Trump’s First Foreign Visit Mirrors 2017 Trip
Earlier this month, Trump hinted that his first foreign trip would likely be to Saudi Arabia. On March 6, he mentioned that he expected to travel there within the next six weeks. Notably, his first overseas visit during his first presidential term was also to Riyadh in 2017.
Visit Dates Under Consideration
According to sources, April 28 was initially discussed as a possible date for the visit, but it was later postponed. Officials now suggest that mid-May is the current target for Trump’s arrival in Saudi Arabia.

The White House has not yet responded to Reuters’ request for comment, and Saudi officials have made no official announcement regarding the visit’s schedule.
