U.S. President Donald Trump, who had previously made harsh remarks about Zoran Mamdani, made a bold statement about New York City following Mamdani’s victory in the NYC Mayoral election.
While addressing a business forum in Miami, Trump said that after Mamdani’s victory, New York would no longer be a livable city and that residents would start moving to Florida.
According to Trump, “New York City lost its independence on election day. Let’s see how Zoran Mamdani performs as mayor. We want New York to succeed — we’ll offer a little help.”
Trump further claimed that Miami would now become a refuge for people leaving New York City, as they would want to escape Mamdani’s “communist” ideology.

It is worth noting that prior to the New York City mayoral election, President Trump had labeled Zoran Mamdani a “fascist who believes in socialism,” saying that Mamdani was “utterly unfit to be mayor — even his voice sounds strange.”
