Obama Gathering ‘Black’ Support for Harris

Obama asking for black men votes for Kamal Harris

Web Desk — Former President Barack Obama dislikes Black men’s reluctance to support Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, saying some aren’t rallying behind her because she is a woman.

Obama delivered these stern remarks to supporters at a Harris campaign office in Pittsburgh. Polling shows former President Donald Trump, the Republican 2024 nominee, has made slight inroads with Black males, particularly young Black men.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are not happy with signs of lagging Black turnout next month even as the country could elect the first Black woman president in U.S. history.

Obama said he had not yet seen the same energy and turnout in all quarters of our neighborhoods and communities as people saw when he was running.

Obama directed his remarks specifically to Black men as he added that it “seems to be more pronounced with the brothers.”

The nation’s first and only Black president said Black men are “coming up with all kinds of reasons and excuses and I have got a problem with that.”

Speaking to men, Obama said perhaps they aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president and are thereby coming up with other alternatives and reasons for that.
