Web Desk — As part of its commitment to closing the global AI skills gap, IBM has announced that it will train two million learners in AI by the end of 2026 through education collaborations.
The company is expanding its AI education collaborations with universities around the world to collaborate with partners and deliver AI training to adult learners. In order to achieve this at a global scale, IBM aims to launch new generative AI coursework through IBM SkillsBuild.
IBM hopes that this will not only expand upon its existing programs and career-building platforms but also offer enhanced access to AI education and in-demand technical jobs. The company has, back in mind, to also focus on unpriviliged communities. A new generative AI course roadmap in collaboration with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) will benefit learners worldwide.
IBM Institute of Business value has recently conducted a global study that estimated that implementing AI and automation will require 40 percent of the companies’ workforce to reskill over the next three years. IBM believes that this means that generative AI is creating a demand for new roles and skills.
Earlier, AI Magazine has reported that 85% of leaders feel confident that their organisations will achieve 2023 AI goals. It further strengthens the idea that AI will assist employees to further upskill within technology sectors.

Making AI training accessible
IBM will make training such as AI lectures and immersive skilling experiences accssible to the university faculties and certificates will be given upon course completion.
With self-directed AI learning paths, the company also aims to provide courseware for faculty to use in the classroom. Students will be offered flexible and adaptable resources, including free online courses on generative AI and open source technologies.
Learners worldwide, through IBM SkillsBuild, can benefit from AI education developed by IBM experts to provide the latest in cutting edge technology developments. IBM SkillsBuild already offers free coursework in AI fundamentals, chatbots and on crucial topics like AI ethics.
IBM SkillsBuild is a free education programme designed for underrepresented communities in tech to help adult learners, high school and university students and faculty, develop valuable new skills and access career opportunities. The programme includes an online platform, complemented by customized practical learning experiences delivered in collaboration with a global network of partners.

All courses are free and available worldwide. Participants will be able to earn IBM-branded digital credentials at course completion, which are recognized by potential employers.
