In a significant move to strengthen trade and travel between Pakistan and Iran, Iran Air has announced the launch of direct weekly passenger and cargo flights from Quetta to the Iranian cities of Zahidan and Mashhad. Iran’s Acting Consul General in Quetta Ali Raza Rajai made this announcement on Saturday.
The new air service was revealed during a special ceremony organized by the Pak-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce, attended by senior Iran Air officials.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
According to Mr. Rajai, the direct flights will enhance commercial activities, reduce travel time and costs, and strengthen bilateral relations between the neighboring countries.
“These flights aim to facilitate trade and travel between Pakistan and Iran,” Rajai emphasized, noting that they will play a key role in boosting port-to-port cooperation between Pakistan’s Gwadar and Iran’s Chabahar Port.
He further urged both countries to remove bureaucratic hurdles, streamline visa processes, and ensure affordable fares to promote smoother and more accessible business engagement.
Relations between Pakistan and Iran have improved following the recent Iran-Israel tensions. It is worth noting that Pakistan openly condemned the American and Israeli attacks against Iran, and slogans of ‘Thank you, Pakistan’ were also raised in the Iranian parliament.
