Samsung S23 Ultra – Short Review
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is not a phone for all. It’s for the people who want something above all. With closer zoom magnification, this is indded a matchless device if we compare with Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus. Compared with iPhone 14 Pro Max and Google Pixel 7 pro, the Ultra offers a massive 6.8-inch screen that’s larger than both these phones.
Camera Specifications
There is no doubt that Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra’s speciality is its camera. Samsung wants this phone to be the favorite device for cinematographers and professional photographers. After using S23 Ultra for several days, you’ll find that the new camera really means business and upholds the areas in which Samsung already excels – that is, best low-light photography, etc.
To some experts, Samsung is the king of low-light photography. Galaxy S23 Ultra captures better detail and color even in low light. With a more sharp focus, it clearly beats the Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro. In this way Galaxy Ultra S23 is also slightly better than the Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, on some occasions it a just a close call.
Multiple Camera Use Options
You’ve the options to shoot photos at a 12-megapixel, 50-megapixel or 200-megapixel resolution by making adjustments in the settings menu alongside the camera’s viewfinder. Now Samsung Expert Raw app is integrated into the native camera app once you download it for the first time.
Video Recording
On Galaxy S23 Ultra, video recording was upgraded to 8K at 30 frames per second (fps). Previously it was topped out at 24fps when shooting at that resolution. As compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has also increased the field of view when recording 8K video.
Galaxy S23 Ultra Processor
The Galaxy S23 Ultra functions on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. As we all know Samsung normally uses the latest Qualcomm chip for its new phones. For the S23 series, Samsung decided to customize this chip more than usual. For Galaxy, Samsung calls it the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It is essentially a special version of the processor that’s been optimized for better performance and power efficiency. Rival phones like the OnePlus 11 5G are including the standard version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Design, Looks & Color
The Galaxy S23 Ultra has almost the same looks as Galaxy S22 Ultra do. The same boxy edges give it a sharper look compared to the regular Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus. But the S23 Ultra, this year, is available in cream, green, black and lavender color choices.
As the company did previously, it’s rated for IP68 water resistance, which means it can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for about 30 minutes.
Battery Life
just like the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 5,000-mAh battery, but it should offer better power efficiency which is due to its new processor. After 12 hours of use, equal to a full workday, the battery should be down to 66%.
Samsung S23 Ultra – Price & Release Date
Alongwith the rest of Samsung’s new phone lineup, the $1,200 (£1,249, AU$1,949) Galaxy S23 Ultra will be available on Feb, 17. For an average person, the S23 Ultra’s giant screen, high price and souped-up camera is really something beyond expectations.
With an excellent camera and giant display, Samsung largely achieves its goal of providing a deluxe phone to its customers. But this is not all. The high price is hardly ignorable while photos taken on the Galaxy S23 Ultra don’t always look as natural as those taken on the iPhone 14 pro max or Pixel 7 Pro.
