World-renowned Indian comedian Kapil Sharma has revealed himself to be an admirer of late Pakistani comedy legend Amanullah Khan, sharing one of the great actor’s memorable words of wisdom with his audience during a recent episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix.
Kapil Sharma, who rose to fame through the Indian comedy competition The Great Indian Laughter Challenge — a show in which Amanullah Khan also participated as guest participant — shared a piece of advice he once received from the Pakistani icon.
‘Competition is for Heroes and Heroines’
Recalling the conversation, Kapil Sharma told his Netflix audience:
“Once, the legendary actor told me: ‘Competition is for heroes and heroines. Comedians spread happiness on people’s faces. There is no competition among comedians.'”
According to Kapil, Amanullah Khan further explained:
“Sometimes you laugh more at one thing, sometimes less at another. But our true purpose is to share joy among humanity — and that is a very noble cause.”
The ‘Comedy King’ Connection
Amanullah Khan, along with other Pakistani comedians, had traveled to India some time ago to participate in the popular comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Kapil Sharma also became famous through the same program, where he portrayed a character named ‘Kabir’ — a police officer — which audiences loved.
A Legacy of Laughter
Amanullah Khan is widely regarded as the biggest name in stand-up comedy in South Asia. He performed thousands of shows on television and stage across Pakistan and internationally, and enjoyed a massive fan following in India as well.
His philosophy of spreading joy without competition continues to inspire comedians across the border.

One user wrote: “Laughter has no borders. Amanullah Khan’s legacy lives on.”
Another added: “Respect to Kapil Sharma for acknowledging the legend who inspired so many.”
The popular Indian comedy reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge was widely loved across South Asia, and comedians from Pakistan also participated in it.
