Web Desk — Shatam-i Rasool Salman Rushdie has lost the use of his one eye and hand. The world’s most controversial author was attacked with a knife at a literary event in New York on August 12.

Salman Rushdie’s agent has shared this update saying that the author has lost sight in one eye and use of one hand as a result of knife attack that took place in New York on August 12 earlier this year.

Agent Andrew Wylie told the Spanish language newspaper, El Pais, that Rushdie suffered three serious wounds to his neck and 15 more wounds to his chest and torso in the attack.

The man who attacked Salman Rushdi was identified as Hadi Matar, 24, a resident of Fairview, New Jersey. He has been incarcerated after pleading not guilty to attempted murder and assault in the Aug.

Rushie was stabbed as he was being introduced at the Chautauqua Institution, a rurally located center 55 miles (89 kilometers) southwest of Buffalo, known for its summertime lecture series.
