Supreme Court Takes Suo-Moto Notice

Supreme Court takes suo moto notice of constitutional crisis

Web Desk — The Supreme Court of Pakistan took sou moto notice of the political situation in the country on Sunday.

Following the opposition leaders’ demand that the “unconstitutional” ruling given by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri be reviewed, Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial headed to the top court.

According to reports, the judicial staff has started arriving at the Supreme Court.

The joint Opposition has prepared a petition calling for the annulment of the ruling of the deputy speakers, following which the National Assembly session was adjourned for an indefinite period as Suri canceled the vote on the no-confidence motion as “unconstitutional”.

A larger bench of the Supreme Court will be made to hear this case.
