Web Desk — Pakistani students, in a remarkable achievement, have emerged as the frontrunners in securing the most prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarships worldwide.

With an impressive count of 192 talented students winning these scholarships, Pakistan has attained the top position as compared with other nations, EU Pakistan has reported.

Pakistan is followed by Indian students who secured 174 scholarships. Students from Bangladesh secured 140 scholarships.

Promoting cultural exchange and international collaboration, the Erasmus Mundus scholarships provide an excellent opportunity for students pursuing their studies in renowned EU universities.

Around 2,835 students from 143 countries have achieved EU-funded scholarships to pursue their studies in 146 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree programs.

Pakistan ranked the highest in the world last year when 3,013 students from 133 countries were selected for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master programs.

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters programs are master’s degree level advanced study programs. These programs are designed and delivered by international partnerships between multiple higher education institutions (HEI).

Each program has collaboration between at least three HEIs from different countries, with at least two of them being EU Member States and the third country is associated with the program.

The EU scholarships are offered to exceptional students who are accepted into these finely designed programs. The main purpose of these jointly recognized Master’s degrees is to promote excellence and internationalization among participating institutions.

Including travel costs and a living allowance, these scholarships also cover the expenses related to a student’s participation in the program.

The United States, earlier this year, announced 500 new scholarships for university students from flood-affected districts of Pakistan. In 2002, the heavy monsoon rains and flash floods resulted in the loss of over 1,700 lives.

Important Guidelines for Students

. GRE is not needed for this scholarship.

. Students with average grades can also apply as there are no particular CGPA criteria. Remember, the fully funded scholarship in Europe is highly competitive. It is the most extensive European scholarship for international students.

. 3,000 fully funded master’s scholarships will be awarded for the 2023-24 academic year. Those who’re interested should start preparing for IELTS or TOEFL. Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship requires command over the English language either in the form of TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo test scores.

. For International students, each semester will be taught at a different university. They will have to do an internship in a different country under this scholarship.

. The duration of the scholarship is only 2 years and students from around the world can apply.

As many as 3000 students will be awarded Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for the academic year 2023-2024. Last year, in 2021 highest number of students were selected from Pakistan and the second highest from India.

Eligibility Criteria:

Category A scholarship if,

. You are coming from a third-country national.
. You are not a national of any 27 EU member states including Iceland, Norway or Liechtenstein.
. You have not done any main activity such as (studies, work, private visits, tourism, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the 27 EU States including Iceland, Norway or Liechtenstein.
. You haven’t applied to more than 3 Erasmus Mundus Masters.
. Applications are welcome without any age limit.
. No work experience is required. You can apply even if you are a fresh graduate with no or less professional experience.

Category B scholarship if,

. You are a European student.
. You are a non-European applicant, but you don’t complete category A requirements.

Other Details About Erasmus 2023 Scholarship:

. There is no need to contact any professor; choose the program, thoroughly review the details, and apply.
. There is no work experience required, and there is not any age restriction.
. People can send applications for three (3) different programs.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Requirements

.Degree and Transcripts should be available.
. A letter of recommendation is a must, but the format is different for different programs. So, check the program requirement.
. A motivation letter is needed but again the format may vary (check the relevant program requirement).
. IELTS/TOEFL is also inevitable. 6.5 bands overall are okay but as the Erasmus Mundus scholarship is competitive, so 7.0 bands will be more helpful.
. Prepare a CV (in European format).
. Students should have their passports ready, as the application opening and the deadline is different for different programs.
. Proof of residence is also a must to prove that the applicant is a permanent resident of the country he/she is applying from and haven’t been residing in Europe for at least one or more years.
