Internet To Remain Suspended In Balochistan

Web Desk – Balochistan’s Caretaker Information Minister Jan Achakzai says internet service in the sensitive polling stations in the province on February 8 polls will remain closed temporarily. Achakzai said Balochistan remains the prime target of militants before general elections and the provincial government is taking all necessary steps for the safety and security of the people.

In his message on X, the minister said that the terrorists could use the social media platforms as a means of communication for their nefarious plans.

He wrote in an X post, “Ensuring the safety and security of ordinary citizens is of utmost importance, as there is a concern that terrorists may exploit social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and other similar channels for communication purposes.”

According to the minister, internet access will be restricted during elections in regions including Turbat, Mach, and Chaman, the areas latest to witness a terrorist attack in the province.
