Web Desk — Film-maker, cinematographer, and screenwriter Bilal Lashari who is hailed as the amazing mind behind a few of the best Lollywood films opens up his mouth about his upcoming masterpiece, The Legend of Maula Jatt.

In his recent interview with BBC, Lashari shared titbits of the film as fans are anxiously waiting for the premiere of TLMJ.

Stating about the storyline, the filmmaker said that he had re-used some of the old themes of the story but with a new twist which will be exciting and more fun for the fans of old Maula Jatt.

Lashari further said that overall, it’s not a remake but a new story with many new characters while using just the lead characters and a few famous dialogues from the 1979 Maula Jatt version.

He said, “This story has both the ‘Damsel in Distress’ and ‘Empowered Women’ which is quite different from the stereotypical representations of the women in the previous entertainment industry where ‘a woman’s will’ was never a matter of concern.”

Answering a question about bloodshed in the movie, Lashari explained that Punjab shown in the movie does not exist in the real world. He said that the actual attraction of the TLMJ will be its fantasy world which is timeless and fans will feel drawn into another world that is very different from the present time just like centuries ago.

Set to be premiered on October 13, the director is hopeful to launch ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ over ‘OTT platforms as well after its successful cinematic release.
