The post comes as the death toll from four days of US-Israeli strikes on Iran continues to mount, with civilian casualties drawing increasing international attention.

‘This is the Rescue Trump Promised’

Sharing the photograph of freshly dug graves stretching in rows across a cemetery, Araghchi wrote in a poignant message:

“This is the rescue that Trump promised the Iranian people.”

The Foreign Minister’s post directly references President Donald Trump’s repeated statements that American strikes were intended to “liberate” and “rescue” the Iranian people from their government.

‘From Gaza to Minab’

In a second post accompanying the image, Araghchi drew a parallel between the suffering of children in Gaza and the newly martyred schoolgirls in Iran:

“From Gaza to Minab, innocent souls have been savagely murdered.”

The 160 young students were laid to rest in a cemetery in Minab, their graves now a stark symbol of the human cost of the escalating conflict.

The Minab School Strike

The tragedy occurred during the initial wave of US-Israeli strikes on February 28, which President Trump had code-named “Operation Epic Fury.” The strike on the elementary school in Minab, southern Iran, killed 160 students, most of them young girls.

The attack on the school has become a rallying point for Iranian outrage against the US-led campaign, with officials repeatedly highlighting it as evidence of the true nature of the operation.

Mounting Civilian Toll

The Minab school strike represents one of the deadliest single incidents of the conflict so far. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, the overall death toll has now reached 787, with thousands more wounded across 153 cities struck by airstrikes.

The targeting of civilian infrastructure, including schools, has drawn condemnation from humanitarian organizations, though US and Israeli officials maintain that their strikes are focused on military targets and that any civilian casualties are unintended.

The image of 160 graves of young girls, victims of a strike on their school, presents a powerful counter-narrative to US claims of precision strikes and liberation.
