Money Heist: Netflix bought it for 2 dollars

LAHORE: (Web Desk) Finally the ‘long and exhausting’ wait by millions of people around the world is almost over as the first part of the last season of the Spanish thriller La Casa De Papel, popularly known as Money Heist, is all set to release this week on Netflix.

The earlier season left fans questioning each other as to what would be the fate of Professor’s team? The upcoming episodes of Money Heist will answer all those questions. Surprisingly the much-awaited show of these days was considered a ‘failure’ in the beginning.

Antena-3, the channel that originally sent Money Heist on-air, almost cancelled the production. Money Heist screenwriter Javier Gomes Santander told the Spanish newspaper, El Mundo, in 2019 that the series was a failure. He said that La Casa de Papel was a failure, not a success. Antena 3 cut the number of planned chapters. “I was already thinking about the next projects of the producer,” The Money Heist screenwriter added.

Netflix bought Money Heist for just $2

Literally, Netflix bought the show for just 2 dollars after it was canceled and scrapped in Spain in three months. In the first week of release, Money Heist was watched by over 34 million households and within 2 weeks the show was number one in the world.

Popular Brazilian footballer Neyar Jr appeared as a guest in the 3rd season of Money Heist.

The makers believe that the show’s ability to surprise the audience is the reason behind its worldwide popularity. Be it Berlin’s actual identity or Nairobi’s untimely demise.

Korean Version of Money Heist

Last year, it was reported that Netflix was going to create a Korean version of its own Spanish language action thriller series. The Korean version of Money Heist will be directed by Kim Hong Sun, who produced TV dramas like The Guest, Voice, and Black. The Korean drama will have 12 parts.

Alex Pina, creator and executive producer of La Casa de Papel, said, “That is why I find it fascinating that the world of La Casa de Papel is so attractive to Korean creators as to do an adaptation.” Pina said the fact that the action would be done on the Korean Peninsula also seemed as a milestone. “I am really delighted about it,” he added.
