Emirates ID Lost – Complaint & Replacement Criteria Details

Web Desk — In case you have lost your Emirates ID, or suspect it has been stolen or damaged, you can easily apply for a new one to replace it on your phone, within minutes. UAE residents, as long as they have an active residency file, can apply for the ‘Replace Emirates ID for Residents’ service through the ‘UAEICP’ app.

Report the incident

Hurry up and report the loss or theft of the Emirates ID at the nearest ICP customer happiness center. Your lost card is deactivated the moment you register the report to stop its misuse by anyone. Visit this link to find the nearest ICP center: icp.gov.ae/en/customer-happiness-centers/

You can take the card with you if it is damaged but if the card is stolen or lost, take a copy of the ID. If you do not have one, ask ICP to provide you with a copy of the lost ID.

Certain documents are required to file the incident report with ICP.

Documents Required:

  • Original passport
  • Recent colored passport size photos – the passport photo must follow the rules and requirements mandated by ICP.
  • A valid passport copy.
  • Copy of the residence visa.

Optional documents

Here are some of the optional documents you may need to provide:

  • Front and back copy of previous Emirates ID
  • Sponsor’s passport copy
  • Father’s passport copy – for individuals under father’s sponsorship
  • Father’s Emirates ID front/back copy – for individuals under their father’s sponsorship
  • Original entry permit
  • Birth certificate
  • Certificate of Disability

Emirates ID replacement application online via ‘UAEICP’ app

The entire process can be completed on your phone with the ‘UAEICP’ mobile application.

Step 1: Download the app and sign in with UAE Pass

  • Open the app, and tap the ‘Sign in with UAE Pass’ button. You can tap on the register and use your email address to create an ICP account if you don’t have a UAE Pass account. An activation link will be sent to your email. Click on the activation link and complete the registration process by providing your Emirates ID number, full name, mobile number, email address, nationality, and date of birth.

You are recommended to use the UAE Pass to sign in to the app. It allows the system to access your details and automatically fill in most of the form.

Step 2: On the app, search for the ‘Replace Emirates ID for residents’

  • Then, go to the menu tab at the bottom of your mobile screen and tap on the icon with three lines.
  • Type ‘Replace Emirates ID for residents in the search bar
  • Tap the ‘Start Service’ button

Step 3: Start the application process

  • See the ‘user data’ having your full name as per your Emirates ID and UAE residency permit in English and Arabic, sponsor number, nationality, UAE Unified Number, passport number, passport expiry date and, the sponsor type.
  • Tap ‘Next’ to continue.

a. Verify ‘identification information’

In case you didn’t sign in with your UAE Pass, provide the following details:

  • UAE Unified Number.
  • Applicant Class – ‘Resident’.
  • Applicant class details – ‘already has details’.
  • File issue date
  • File expiry date
  • Identity number
  • Previous Emirates ID expiry date
  • Date of birth

You have to provide the reason for your replacement request from the drop-down menu. The options are as follows:

  • Change of passport for residency
  • Lost or stolen
  • Defective card

b. Enter beneficiary information

  • Nationality
  • Country of birth
  • Place of birth in English and Arabic. Type the place in English, it will be automatically entered in Arabic by ICP.
  • Religion.
  • Marital status
  • Profession
  • Then, select a qualification from the drop-down menu. For example – a high school diploma, bachelor’s, or Ph.D.
  • Job type – student, free zone, government, or, private.

Select the relevant option and tap ‘Next’ to proceed.

Option to change signature on Emirates ID

Next, there will be the option to change the signature printed on your Emirates ID – select ‘yes’ or ‘no’.

In case you select ‘yes’ – after the application’s submission and the payment is made, you will have to visit one of the ICP Customer Happiness Centres to request to change your signature.

c. Verify passport information

  • Passport type
  • Passport number
  • Passport Issue date
  • Passport expiry date
  • Passport issue placed in English and Arabic
  • Passport issue country.

Tap ‘Next’.

d. Enter address details

  • Emirate of residence
  • City of residence
  • Select the residential area from the drop down menu.
  • Enter the detailed address.
  • UAE mobile number.
  • Email address.

e. Address outside UAE

  • Permanent country
  • Applicant location outside the UAE
  • Permanent mobile number

f. Delivery address information

  • Select the delivery method. You have choices: deliver to a specific address or collect it from the courier office.
  • Choose the delivery company. The courier will deliver the physical Emirates ID.
  • Select the emirate and city.
  • Enter a UAE mobile number.

Tap ‘Next’.

Step 4: Upload required documents and a fresh color passport-size photo

Before uploading your passport photo, make sure it follows the rules and requirements mandated by ICP. You can easily upload the documents from your phone.

At this stage, you also have the option to upload additional optional documents.

Step 5: Review the application
You will have one last chance to review the details and edit them to make any changes or corrections before submitting the application.

Tap ‘next’ to continue.

Step 6: Make the payment

  • View the final overall cost.
  • Then agree to the terms and conditions.
  • Choose your payment method. Credit or debit card or select the ‘pay later’ option.
  • Tap the ‘Pay’ button.
  • Enter your credit or debit card details. Once the payment is successfully made, you will receive a request number to track the status of your application using your registered email address.

How to track the Emirates ID application online

  • Visit the ICP online service – smartservices.icp.gov.ae.
  • In the ‘Quick Search’ bar, enter the request number.
  • You can view which stage your application stands.

When will the Emirates ID be delivered?

You will receive an SMS from Emirates Post or Zajel, asking you to come to the pick-up location.

You’ll be informed about the date and time if you selected the option to deliver your Emirates ID card to your office or home.

The new ID card will have the same expiry date that your lost or damaged one had.

Emirates ID replacement fees

Here are the fees you will have to pay (in case you pay online):

  • Dh300 – Emirates ID card issuance fee.
  • Dh29.40 – E-service fees.
  • Dh122 – ICP fees.

Total – Dh451.40

Additional fees:
Dh5.87 – If you pay online with your credit or debit card, you will have to pay an extra ‘ePayment Commission’ fee.

5 percent Value Added Tax (VAT).
