Hacked Byea App Restored And Fully Functional: Company

Bykea app hacked

Web Desk — Famous mobility, ride-hailing, and delivery app ‘Bykea’ was briefly hacked by Indian hackers after users started receiving highly inappropriate text messages abusing Pakistan.

The company now claims that the app has been restored and is fully functional and safe to use.

In a statement, the company apologized for the inappropriate messages sent through Bykea. The management said that this was a third-party communication tool that got compromised.
The Bykea management advises its users to contact the helpline in case of any issues.

Analysts say this hack was likely targeted at Bykea’s marketing communication tools, responsible for sending push notifications to consumers. This is usually a third-party product that got compromised.

Bykea Chief Operating Officer (COO) Rafiq Malik says about 100,000 people use the app on daily bases, adding that Bykea has five million plus downloads on Google Play Store.
