Currency Declaration Not New Requirement: FBR

FBR advises taxpayers not to share PINs

Web Desk — The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has rebutted misleading information being shared in some sections of the media that Pakistan has recently imposed currency declaration requirements for passengers coming into Pakistan.

FBR’s spokesperson, in a tweet, said that the above requirement is not new as the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) issued a notification in this regard about 10 years ago and Pak Customs widened the scope in 2019.

In order to raise awareness among international passengers, Pakistan Customs has collaborated with the Civil Aviation Authority, airlines, and immigration authorities to improve outreach for both departing and arriving passengers. As a result, compliance has been steadily increasing,” the revenue body stated.
