Web Desk — If you thought Squid Game was violent, get ready for something even more violent and terrifying.
Variety reports that Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of Squid Game, is working on an upcoming movie that “will be controversial and more violent than his other offerings.” He also said it might force him to hide from older people.
‘Killing Old People Club’ is based on a novel by Umberto Eco, an Italian writer, and intellectual. Eco, who died in 2016, is perhaps best known for his 1980 novel The Name of the Rose, which was made into a 1986 movie starring Sean Connery, as well as a 2019 TV miniseries.
According to Hwang, Killing Old People Club will be “another controversial film”, and its violence level will exceed Squid Game. Despite no release date information for the film, Hwang joked he might have to hide from older people after its release.

Hwang also revealed that he would return to South Korea to write the much anticipated second season of Squid Game, which Netflix hopes will air by the end of 2024.

Netflix’s Squid Game was a huge hit in the fall of 2021, becoming its biggest hit ever. During a deadly tournament of children’s games, one player wins big, but the rest die when they lose. The film follows a group of desperately indebted people in South Korea. Imagine The Hunger Games, but with only contests like Red Light, Green Light, and Marbles. In a statement obtained by TV Line, the director said, “It is true that we are discussing a wide variety of possibilities for Squid Game including the production of season 3 but nothing has been finalized yet.”
