Biden-Putin Call On Ukraine Crisis Makes Little Progress

Biden and Putin Discuss Ukraine situation on Phone

Web Desk — Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Joe Biden held a high-tension telephone call on Saturday as the world watched and feared that an invasion of Ukraine could begin within days.

According to the White House, Biden and Putin spoke for about an hour. Biden conducted the call from Camp David. In response, the White House warned that Russia would face “swift and severe costs” if its troops invaded Ukraine.

More than 100,000 Russian troops have been stationed near the Ukraine border and have participated in exercises in Belarus, but the country denies that it intends to launch an offensive against Ukraine.

Biden has said the US military will not enter a war in Ukraine but has promised severe economic sanctions against Moscow, in conjunction with allies.
