Web Desk — Saudi Arabia has been officially selected to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, as announced during an extraordinary FIFA congress on Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reported.
This makes Saudi Arabia the second Middle Eastern nation to host the prestigious tournament, following Qatar’s successful hosting in 2022.
The event will take place in five cities—Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha, and the futuristic city of Neom—with matches planned in 15 state-of-the-art stadiums.
Notably, the 2034 tournament will mark the first time the FIFA World Cup expands to include 48 teams, signaling a new era for the competition.
2030 FIFA World Cup to Celebrate Centenary
Morocco, Portugal, and Spain will co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Additionally, Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay will hold special centenary celebration matches, commemorating 100 years since the inaugural World Cup 1930.
Since its inception, the FIFA World Cup has been held every four years, except 1942 and 1946 due to the Second World War, solidifying its position as the pinnacle of international men’s football.
