Web Desk — The government has decided to ask the Pakistan Army to assist with security during the Australia series.
According to Pakistani media, the security arrangements for the historic series have been completed, under which the military will be deployed along with police personnel.
According to the sources, “all markets and shopping malls adjacent to Pindi Cricket Stadium will be closed during the first Test match on March 4,” adding that mobile service will be suspended during the teams’ travel.
“More than 4,000 police personnel will be deployed for security in Rawalpindi.”
The Australian team will arrive on Feb 27 to play 3 Tests, 3 ODIs, and one T20I.
As the Australians are coming to play in Pakistan after almost 24 years, the Pakistan Cricket Board is making all-out efforts to ensure the series is successful. The tour is also crucial to the complete revival of international cricket in Pakistan.
Last year, New Zealand pulled out of the Pakistan tour minutes before the first match in Rawalpindi due to security concerns, and England canceled their trip.
