Injured Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out of England Series

Jasprit Bumrah Injury

Web Desk — Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s injury has resulted in his exclusion from the five-match T20 International series against England.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Saturday. Meanwhile, Mohammad Shami has returned to the squad after more than a year away, following his recovery from ankle surgery.

Bumrah, the leading wicket-taker in India’s recent Test series against Australia, which they lost 3-1, suffered back spasms during the final Test in Sydney, forcing him to withdraw midway through the match.

Shami returns to action for the first time since the 2023 ODI World Cup final in November, where India, as hosts, was defeated by Australia.

Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is another notable omission, with Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel selected as the two wicketkeeping options in the squad.

The T20 series kicks off on January 22, with the final match scheduled for February 12. A three-match ODI series will follow, leading up to next month’s Champions Trophy.
