Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, and the party’s provincial president, Junaid Akbar, have caused a wave of concern among the moderate circles of the party with their aggressive and provocative statements against key military figures.
According to a report by The News’ senior investigative journalist Ansar Abbasi, the tone and language adopted by both leaders have alarmed senior PTI figures, who fear that such aggressive conduct could put the party’s government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at risk.
Those expressing reservations include PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Senator Shibli Faraz, Sheikh Waqas Akram, and others.
As per Ansar Abbasi’s report, Ali Amin Gandapur in particular has warned that the provocative statements made by the Chief Minister and the provincial president could topple the party’s only remaining government.

He is reported to have said that instead of provoking anyone, efforts should be focused on protecting and sustaining the provincial government.
Internal party sources have further revealed that Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Shibli Faraz, and Sheikh Waqas Akram have also voiced their concerns over the confrontational stance being taken against powerful quarters.
There is growing anxiety within PTI that issuing open and inflammatory statements against the military establishment could potentially lead to a repeat of the events of May 9 — a situation the party leadership should avoid at all costs.
