The day began with special congregational prayers at mosques and Eidgahs, where worshippers sought divine blessings for the country’s progress and security. A hallmark of Eid celebrations is the preparation of special dishes, including sheer khurma and various meat delicacies. The country’s leadership also urged citizens to remember the underprivileged and contribute generously to charity.
President Zardari Calls for Unity and Compassion
President Asif Ali Zardari extended heartfelt Eid greetings to the nation and the Muslim world, emphasizing the importance of sharing Eid’s joy with those in need.
“We must fulfill our obligations of Zakat, charity, and Fitrana so that no one is deprived of Eid’s happiness,” he said, describing Eid as a divine reward for the fasting and worship observed during Ramadan.
The president highlighted that Ramadan teaches patience, endurance, and compassion, values that should guide daily life. He urged Pakistanis to support one another, work towards national progress, and uphold unity.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), he prayed for their peace and freedom.
PM Shehbaz Stresses National Solidarity
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his Eid message, described the festival as an occasion of happiness, gratitude, and brotherhood. He called on the nation to uphold patience and sacrifice beyond Ramadan.
Acknowledging Pakistan’s challenges, he emphasized unity against extremism, sectarianism, and external threats. “We must stand together for the country’s stability and prevent any conspiracies from succeeding,” he asserted.
The prime minister reiterated the government’s commitment to economic revival and maintaining law and order. He also paid tribute to the armed forces, recognizing their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
PM Shehbaz expressed solidarity with the families of martyrs and victims of the recent Jaffar Express attack, while reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Palestine and IIOJK. He urged the international community to address ongoing human rights violations.
Concluding his message, he encouraged people to share Eid’s blessings with the underprivileged and contribute to a more compassionate society.
Armed Forces Pay Tribute to National Heroes
The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and the Service Chiefs extended warm Eid greetings to the nation, acknowledging the sacrifices of Pakistan’s brave soldiers.
“Eid ul Fitr marks the conclusion of Ramadan and symbolizes unity, compassion, and gratitude,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated.
“For our soldiers, the true spirit of Eid lies in the honor of defending our nation—even while being away from family—striving for peace, prosperity, and harmony.”
The statement further emphasized the importance of remembering the valor and dedication of national heroes who safeguard Pakistan’s freedom and sovereignty.
“In the spirit of Eid, the Armed Forces of Pakistan call upon all citizens to unite under the banner of love, respect, and solidarity, the very principles that define our great nation,” the statement added.
