Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has claimed that India was met with a “severe and unprecedented” response following its recent aggressive posturing toward Pakistan — a retaliation he says has no precedent in history.
Speaking to senior journalist Shahzeb Khanzada, Asif stated, “Our armed forces have written a new chapter in modern warfare. The world is stunned at how quickly and decisively we acted.”
He emphasized that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “gripped by frustration and desperation,” making him capable of taking irresponsible actions. “But the international community will not back Modi in such adventures. At this point, only Israel seems to be standing by India,” the Defence Minister noted.
According to Asif, Modi had miscalculated Pakistan’s resolve. “He expected a walkover — but what he got was a strategic blow that he never saw coming.”
Commenting on a recent statement by Aleema Khan, sister of jailed PTI founder Imran Khan — in which she asked what her brother could do to secure his release — Khawaja Asif described it as “part plea, part veiled threat.” He added, “It’s a vague feeler, but once again, the same old mindset is at play.”
Asif also criticized elements abroad who are running social media campaigns against the military, claiming they are acting under the direction of PTI’s top leadership. “Unless PTI issues a clear and responsible statement, no progress can be made,” he said.
