Hacking Threat: Cyber Police is Coming in Pakistan

Cyber Police Department in Pakistan

Web Desk — Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has decided to form a new cybersecurity agency in the country to stop threats from cyber intruders.

The decision was taken as a precautionary measure to respond to the reports that India employed digital spyware (Pegasus) created by the Israeli penetration firm NSO to hack PM Imran Khan’s phone.

The decision to form a separate cyber police department was due to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) ‘s inability to tackle the “beast” they believe is beyond their control.

In FIA action is taken on only 34% of reported cases owing to gross understaffing.

Keeping these facts in mind, the decision to form a cyber police department in Pakistan seems quite sensible, though much late. Pakistan wants a robust cybersecurity agency that safeguards Pakistanis interests online.
