In a high-level diplomatic meeting held in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed Beijing’s full support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, vowing continued cooperation in key strategic sectors and regional security issues.

The statement came during a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who is currently on an official visit to China.

“China supports Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Wang Yi declared, adding that Beijing welcomes and supports efforts toward a peaceful resolution of disputes between Pakistan and India through dialogue.

He emphasized China’s long-standing position in favor of sustainable peace in South Asia and reiterated that all outstanding issues between Pakistan and India, including border disputes, should be addressed diplomatically.

Call for Regional Peace and Economic Cooperation

Wang Yi further stressed China’s support for a comprehensive and long-term ceasefire in the region, and emphasized that fundamental solutions should be found through mutual respect and negotiation.

The Chinese Foreign Minister also called for enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and China in various sectors, including industry, agriculture, energy, and mineral development. He highlighted the importance of increasing joint efforts in counter-terrorism initiatives as well.

Meeting with CPC Official

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also met with You Quan Zhao, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), where both sides agreed to strengthen inter-party relations and promote greater political connectivity.

Dar appreciated China’s consistent support of Pakistan’s core interests and sovereignty. In response, You Quan Zhao described Pakistan as “China’s iron brother”, reiterating that the relationship remains a priority for Beijing.

Analysis: Message to India

This meeting sends a clear diplomatic signal to India:
China is firmly aligned with Pakistan on matters of sovereignty and regional balance, and it expects dialogue, not aggression, to resolve disputes.

By publicly backing Pakistan’s territorial integrity and calling for peaceful conflict resolution, China is indirectly warning India against any unilateral actions or escalations, especially in sensitive areas like Kashmir. It also underscores that China views regional stability as a priority, and any Indian move that disrupts this will be met with a strong political and diplomatic counterweight from Beijing.
