Govt Gets Massive Relief From SC

By Web Desk — Pakistan’s top court has suspended the ruling of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on the Ravi Urban Development Plan case, allowing the PTI administration to continue working on the project.

The local media reported that the apex court had suspended the LHC’s verdict declaring the River Ravi Urban Development Project (RRUDP) illegal.

The SC bench was hearing appeals against the cancellation of the mega-development project, which was declared ‘unconstitutional’ as it lacked a master plan by a lower court on January 25.

Earlier, the court reprimanded the Punjab government’s legal team for not being prepared for its appearance before the bench.

Justice Shahid Karim of LHC issued an order to immediately cease construction, stating that Section 4 of the Ravi Urban Development Authority Act, 2020, is unconstitutional.
