Web Desk — After scaling the tallest building in the world and jumping out of planes or performing insane stunts, Tom Cruise now plans to do a movie in outer space. In his next movie, Tom Cruise will have scenes shot in outer space.
Donna Langley, the head of Universal Pictures, told BBC that Tom Cruise will be starring in Doug Liman’s directorial action movie. Both have already worked together in Edge of Tomorrow.
Langley said, “Tom Cruise is taking us to space. He’s taking the world to space. That’s the plan. We have a great project in development with Tom, that does contemplate him doing just that. Taking a rocket up to the space station and shooting and hopefully being the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the space station.”
Langley further revealed that while the movie sees Tom Cruise in outer space, it “actually [mostly] takes place on Earth, and then the character needs to go up to space to save the day.” She also described Cruise’s character as “a down-on-his-luck guy who finds himself in the position of being the only person who could save Earth.”
While further details about the project are being kept secret, it was revealed that the cast and crew are working with NASA and Elon Musk’s Space X and this is the first time a Hollywood studio has ever filmed a feature film in space.
