Private housing schemes increase transfer fees

Web Desk — Important but disturbing news for the general public and those involved in the property business that some private housing societies have drastically increased the transfer fee for houses and plots.

According to a news published in Jang, some private housing societies have increased the transfer fee of houses and plots. Some societies on Raiwind Road have unanimously increased the transfer fee from Rs 60,000 to Rs 200,000.

Last week, the Property Dealers Association expressed concern over the situation and a delegation of them also met the owners of the societies and demanded the withdrawal of the increase, calling it unjustified and unnecessary.

The members of the delegation said that the cost of construction materials has already affected the sector immensely. The increase in fees will further affect the work of property dealers.

In this regard, the housing society owners said that it was necessary to do so due to increase in the cost of road construction, sewerage and other works. The Property Dealers Association has demanded the Punjab Housing Authority to take notice of the matter and reduce the fees.
