ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has issued an official statement confirming that PTI founder Imran Khan was brought to the hospital on the night of August 20-21 for a medical examination and treatment.

According to the statement, two specialists from Shifa International Hospital participated in the eye examination as part of the multi-specialty assessment. The ophthalmological evaluation was conducted alongside other diagnostic tests, and the findings were incorporated into the final medical fitness report prepared by the PIMS medical board.

Confidentiality Maintained
The hospital emphasized that patient confidentiality is being strictly observed, and the detailed medical report will not be made public in compliance with the Supreme Court directives.

“The hospital respects patient confidentiality and will not disclose the confidential details of the medical report, in line with Supreme Court orders,” the statement read.

Background
The Supreme Court had issued a directive on August 18, ordering that Imran Khan be transferred to Shifa International Hospital for a full medical check-up. However, on the night of August 20, the government instead moved him to PIMS.

Government ministers, including Atta Tarar and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, explained that PTI workers had created a security situation outside Shifa Hospital, making it necessary to shift Khan to PIMS instead.
