PWPA and JICA Discuss Strengthening Cooperation for Women’s Protection in Punjab

Lahore: Ms. Noriko Hara, representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), met with Dr. Lubna Nazir, Director General of the Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA), at the Authority’s office in Lahore to discuss ongoing and future collaboration aimed at strengthening women’s protection across Punjab.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed their current partnership, including the organization of training workshops for PWPA staff and the development of strategic work plans to enhance awareness and protection mechanisms for women throughout the province.

The discussion also focused on opportunities to expand cooperation in addressing all forms of violence against women, including domestic abuse, workplace harassment, and violence in public spaces. Both parties emphasized the importance of building institutional capacity and improving support systems to ensure a safer environment for women.

Dr. Lubna Nazir appreciated JICA’s continued support and acknowledged the valuable contributions of Ms. Noriko Hara in advancing women’s protection initiatives and capacity-building efforts in Punjab. She highlighted the significance of international partnerships in strengthening institutional responses to gender-based violence and promoting women’s safety and empowerment.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further enhancing collaboration for the protection of women’s rights and the development of more effective support and awareness programs across Punjab.
