Tuesday, 03 March 2026 | Web Desk

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to take both government and opposition parties into confidence regarding the ongoing Iran-Israel war and the broader situation in the Middle East, government sources confirmed Tuesday.

In light of the current global situation, an in-camera briefing will be provided to opposition parties and all political factions in parliament on the escalating tensions in the Middle East.

All-Party Briefing Scheduled

According to official announcements, the Prime Minister has extended invitations to parliamentary leaders of the Senate and National Assembly, as well as opposition leaders, to attend the briefing session.

The in-camera briefing will be held tomorrow at 11:00 AM, during which participants will be given a detailed overview of:

  • The regional security situation
  • Pakistan’s official stance on the conflict
  • Implications for the country
  • Future course of action

Rana Sanaullah to Coordinate

The Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, will personally contact parliamentary and opposition leaders from all parties to ensure maximum participation in the briefing session.

Aim: National Consensus

Government sources indicate that the primary objective of this initiative is to build national consensus and keep the political leadership fully informed about the rapidly changing regional dynamics.

The decision reflects the government’s recognition that the Iran-Israel war has significant implications for Pakistan’s security, economy, and foreign policy, requiring a unified national approach.

Regional Context

The briefing comes amid escalating conflict between US-Israeli forces and Iran, which has now entered its fourth day with the death toll reaching 787. The war has drawn in multiple regional actors, with Iranian retaliatory strikes hitting US bases in Bahrain and other Gulf states.

Pakistan’s geographical proximity to the conflict zone and its historical relationships with key players in the Middle East make the situation particularly significant for the country’s national security establishment.

The all-parties briefing represents an attempt to ensure that Pakistan’s response to the crisis reflects a unified national position rather than partisan divisions.
