In a novel move to boost provincial revenue, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced the auction of exclusive vehicle number plates bearing the names of the country’s top political and national figures.
The Excise and Taxation Minister, Fakhre Jahan, revealed to Geo News that the auction for these “fancy” and unique choice number plates will be held on January 27, 2026, at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar.
The list of names to be featured includes President Asif Ali Zardari, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, among other prominent personalities.
Key Details of the Auction:
- Starting Bid: The bidding for these prestigious plates will begin at 10 lakh (1 million) Pakistani Rupees.
- Award Criteria: The highest bidder will win the right to own a number plate associated with their preferred political or national figure.
- Phased Rollout: Minister Fakhre Jahan stated that this is just the first phase. Subsequently, number plates linked to other national leaders, celebrities, regions, and ethnicities will also be put up for auction.
Objective and Procedure:
The provincial minister expressed confidence that this initiative will significantly benefit the national treasury. Citizens eager to acquire these unique plates have already begun submitting their applications through the designated “Dastak” App.
The KP Excise and Taxation Department has issued a formal advertisement regarding the auction. The last date for submitting applications via the Dastak App is January 26, 2026.
This initiative marks a creative approach by the provincial government to generate funds while catering to the interests of vehicle enthusiasts and supporters of various political figures.
