The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed “Taimoor” weapon system, the military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Saturday.

In a statement, ISPR said the successful test marked another major milestone in the advancement of Pakistan’s national aerospace and defense capabilities.

According to the statement, the Taimoor air-launched cruise missile is capable of engaging enemy land and sea targets with high precision at a range of up to 600 kilometres and carries a conventional warhead.

“Equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation and guidance system, Taimoor is designed to fly at very low altitudes, enabling it to effectively evade hostile air and missile defense systems,” ISPR said.

The military added that the missile’s precision-strike capability significantly enhances the PAF’s conventional deterrence and operational flexibility, further strengthening Pakistan’s overall defense posture.

“The successful flight test underscores the technical maturity, innovation, and self-reliance achieved by Pakistan’s defense industry,” the statement said, adding that the launch was witnessed by senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces as well as scientists and engineers involved in the weapon’s development.

PAF Chief Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu congratulated the scientists, engineers, and PAF personnel on the achievement, praising their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to strengthening national defense.

He said such accomplishments reflect the nation’s resolve to achieve technological self-sufficiency and maintain a credible conventional deterrent in an evolving regional security environment.

“The successful test of the Taimoor weapon system reflects Pakistan Air Force’s continued pursuit of operational readiness, technological superiority, and national security objectives,” he was quoted as saying.

President Asif Ali Zardari also paid tribute to the PAF, calling the development of modern weapons at the local level a clear reflection of national capability, resolve, and institutional expertise.

He said the successful test had further strengthened national defense and reinforced Pakistan’s responsible defense policy aimed at maintaining regional stability. The president lauded the efforts and dedication of scientists, engineers, and PAF officers and personnel, describing the achievement as a significant milestone in Pakistan’s journey toward defence self-reliance.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif likewise congratulated the PAF, saying the successful test would further enhance the country’s defense capabilities, according to state-run Radio Pakistan.
