The Foreign Office of Pakistan has stated that the Afghan Taliban have not upheld the ceasefire agreement, as cross-border attacks from Afghanistan into Pakistan continue unabated. Consequently, Pakistan now considers that the ceasefire between the two countries no longer exists.

During the weekly media briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi emphasized that the presence of terrorist elements in Afghanistan poses a significant threat to regional peace and security. He cited a United Nations report as clear validation of Pakistan’s stance on the matter.

Concrete Evidence of Terrorist Presence in Afghanistan

Spokesperson Andrabi presented a detailed account of Pakistan’s intelligence findings:
Concrete Evidence: Pakistan possesses solid evidence confirming the presence of terrorist elements on Afghan soil.
Sanctuary & Support: There is credible evidence that terrorists are receiving support and using Afghan territory as a sanctuary.
Human & Technical Intelligence: Pakistan has acquired human and technical intelligence detailing the support mechanisms for these terrorist elements.
Detailed Dossiers: Authorities hold reliable reports containing specifics on the numbers, names, and sources of financial support for these terrorist groups.

Diplomatic Channels Remain Active

Despite the escalation, the spokesperson confirmed that diplomatic channels between Pakistan and Afghanistan remain functional. Ambassadors of both countries are present in each other’s capitals, and bilateral issues continue to be discussed through official diplomatic means.

Regional Consultations on Terrorism

Andrabi highlighted that the issue of terrorist elements was a key topic at a recent regional meeting in Tehran. The meeting, part of an ongoing regional consultation mechanism, involved special representatives from neighboring countries. Discussions broadly addressed the threats posed by groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terrorist outfits, underscoring the importance of consensus and consultation among regional states.

No Decision on International Stability Force

Regarding reports of an international stability force, the spokesperson clarified that while consultations are ongoing in some global capitals, Pakistan has not been formally approached with any specific request. He stated that Pakistan has not yet made any decision on the matter.
