Monitoring Desk:
Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, stated that India, once again repeating its history of launching attacks under the cover of darkness, targeted civilian areas and mosques in Pakistan during the night between May 6 and 7.
According to the Pakistan Army spokesperson, the cowardly Indian attacks have so far resulted in the martyrdom of 26 innocent civilians, while 46 others have sustained injuries.
Lieutenant General Chaudhry revealed that India deliberately targeted Pakistan’s strategically important Neelum–Jhelum Hydropower Project, causing significant damage. Warning India, he asked: “Are you aware of the consequences of this reckless action?” He added that India’s water terrorism would lead to serious repercussions.
Attacks on Mosques and Civilians
The DG ISPR detailed the civilian losses:
- In Ahmedpur East, 13 people were martyred.
- In Muzaffarabad, an attack on Bilal Mosque claimed 3 lives.
- In Kotli, two people were martyred in another cowardly assault.
- In Muridke, a mosque was targeted, leading to 3 more martyrs.
- In Sialkot and Shakargarh, no casualties were reported.
He emphasized that all the attacked areas were populated with innocent civilians at the time of the strikes.
How Pakistan Responded
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) shot down five Indian fighter jets and one combat quadcopter in retaliation. These included:
- Two French-made Rafale jets (India’s most advanced and expensive aircraft),
- One Russian Sukhoi (Su-30), and
- One MiG-29 Fulcrum.
He clarified that all Indian jets were hit within Indian territory, specifically over Srinagar, Akhnoor, Bhatinda, and other regions. All PAF aircraft and assets remain fully secure, and no Pakistani jet entered Indian airspace. The response was launched after Indian aircraft initiated the aggression.
Escalation at the LoC
The DG ISPR added that India also opened unprovoked artillery fire along the Line of Control (LoC). Following Pakistan’s strong military response, Indian forces raised white flags in the Chakothi sector, symbolizing surrender.
A Strong Message from the Military
Lieutenant General Chaudhry delivered a pointed message, stating:
“Our enemy is cowardly and weak, but Pakistan has responded with full force—and will continue to do so.”
