Web Desk — Due to extreme smog in the city, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the Punjab government to extend the winter holidays of all educational institutions for a week.
LHC gave this verdict while hearing petitions seeking the court’s intervention for smog control.
The high court, earlier, had ordered the Lahore administration to close markets and restaurants by 10 pm on weekends, keeping in view the worsening situation of smog in the city.
The court previously ordered the closure of schools for three days a week, (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) to limit the exposure of students to hazardous air.
This is the 5th consecutive year that the people of Lahore have been breathing in the most polluted environment, posing a serious challenge to their health and daily function.
The court then adjourned the hearing till Friday.
