Web Desk — Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Speaker National Assembly (NA), on Thursday decided to summon the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legislators for verification of their resignations they tendered on April 11. The PTI MNAs announced their resignations from NA following the ouster of prime minister Imran Khan via a no-confidence vote.
The Speaker decided to verify the resignations of PTI MNAs after receiving a letter from PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
In the letter, Qureshi cited verdicts of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and the Apex Court (SC) regarding the resignations of the PTI MNAs without verification.
The speaker, as reports say, will summon the PTI MNAs one by one in his chamber for the legal exercise under Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007.
The NA Speaker, earlier in July, accepted the resignations of only 11 PTI lawmakers.
