In his first series as Australia’s Test captain, Cummins led the team to an emphatic victory over the Ashes, but he is aware that to be counted as one of the best, Australia must succeed overseas, particularly in the subcontinent.
After Tim Paine resigned over a ‘sexting’ scandal, Cummins led Australia to a 4-0 victory against England while taking the most wickets in the five-match Ashes series.
It will be Australia’s first tour to Pakistan since 1998, beginning in March with three Test matches, when they visit Pakistan for a full tour.
As part of a month-long series beginning on March 3 in Pakistan, Australia will play three Tests, three One-day Internationals (ODIs) and one Twenty-20 International (T20I).
All four white-ball matches will be played in Lahore from March 29 to April 5, while the Test matches will be played in Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore from March 3 to 25.
Cummins told reporters on Monday that was the next big challenge.
“The best teams in the past were not only successful at home but overseas as well. Pakistan next on the radar for us, it’s going to be huge.”
Kangroos are also scheduled to tour Sri Lanka and India later this year.
